So a lot of Pure Bloods tend to act like they are better than the Halfs. What was it that made you treat them more like equals?
My parents didn’t raise me to think we were better than halfs or mortals. There was also a situation that cemented in the fact that halfs were equals to pures in every way.
Pures and Halfs are strictly forbidden yet you seem extremely close to Alex. When did you first realize you had feelings for her?
Ah, it’s kind of hard not to develop feelings for the girl. There’s just something about her that makes common sense jump out the window and nose dive. I think I knew when I saw her in Atlanta, scared out of her mind but still fighting.
So let’s talk about Seth. I definitely get the vibe you don’t like him. What do you really think about him?
I think he’s an asshole. How about that for honesty?
Well I hate him and love you so I think Alex is a complete idiot for getting close to him. So looking back to the Catsills how did you feel when you found Seth and Alex in a compromising position after she was slipped ‘The Brew’?
I wanted to kill Seth. Bring him back from the dead and then kill him again. He knew that Alex was under the influence and he still couldn’t control himself. Like I said, I wanted to kill him.
So you are definitely very heroic and protective of those close to you. You used Compulsion on another Pure even though it is forbidden. What was going through you head when that happened?
Alex—Alex was the only thing that was going through my head.
And finally what’s to come for you and Alex, are you finally done hiding your feelings? Can we see you guys together for good now?

The Notorious Elizabeth Tuttle
Chamberlain has done an incredible job reconstructing the life of Jonathan Edwards' grandmother Elizabeth Tuttle from a few existing records and a microhistorical approach. By studying the rest of the family and the community in which she lived, we are able to learn much more about the woman she was or might have been. Edwards' grandfather was granted a divorce from Tuttle in the state of Connecticut which had some of the most liberal divorce laws and remarried a short time later. This is a very well-done book and should serve as an example to researchers on how to incorporate aspects of culture, laws, social history, and the like to bring a person to life. Benison, C. C. Eleven Pipers Piping. New York: Delacorte Press, 2012.
Rev. Tom Christmas (also known as "Father Christmas") investigates when one of his parishioners turns up dead after a very snowy Burns Day dinner which he attended. There's some delay in getting investigators there. Although it appears to have been natural to most persons present at the dinner, there's still some suspicion about the circumstances of the man's death which turns out to be well-founded. The book is written with an occasional letter from one of the household staff to her mother interspersed in the narrative. Whether it is because I had not read the earlier installment or for other reasons, I never really connected to the characters in the book. There was a list of characters in the front which was helpful because of the number of persons in the narrative. I felt that the narrative was unnecessarily wordy in places and that the writing could have been tighter. Careful editing could have reduced this book from almost 500 pages to about 350 which is much more typical of this type of book. This review is based on an advanced e-galley received courtesy of the publisher through NetGalley. (3 stars)
A Christmas Garland
Perry, Anne. A Christmas Garland: A Novel. New York: Ballantine Books, 2012.
It's nearing Christmas soon after the siege at Cawnpore in India. A guard has been killed and an Indian prisoner has escaped. A well-liked orderly named John Tallis is blamed for the death because he is the only person lacking an alibi. A very young Lt. Narraway is chosen to defend him. It's an almost impossible case. The investigating officer doesn't like his arrest, but sees no other viable suspect for the crime. Will Lt. Narraway be able to free the orderly for Christmas and give the unit back the gift of a well-liked member of the medical staff. Although the time period is the 19th century, the setting of this novel is quite different from Perry's Monk and Pitt series. I would have liked a little more background of the events that led to the unit's being in the area incorporated into the narrative as well as a little more information on the lieutenant's background before coming to this specific location in India. I'm uncertain as to whether this is a stand alone or the beginning of a new series for Perry. I would probably read additional installments if they do become available. This review is based on an electronic galley provided by the publisher through NetGalley for review. (3.5 stars)

Revisiting My Genealogy Database
One of the unexpected outcomes of my recent DNA testing with Ancestry.com has been filling in some holes, especially on non-direct lines, in my genealogy database. I knew that I had some holes that needed to be filled because I had data that was still primarily in notebooks or file folders. I kept thinking I would pull those folders and notebooks out, but I just never did.
The primary means of connecting with your matches with Ancestry DNA is via the Ancestry trees. I knew that I needed to begin one for my family and properly document it. I didn't just want to import my whole GEDCOM. I wanted to force myself to take a look at what was being entered and to make sure that my data was clean and properly documented before making it publicly available. My tree is still listed as private, but I've now attached what is there to my profile so that people can see that I've got something there. What is there at this point will not be that useful to people, because I've only got data through my gg-grandparents there with documentation complete for grandparents. I'm working on their parents and siblings at the moment and taking those lines forward as much as possible. Then I'll slowly go back a generation at a time, working on the forward lines also. I suspect that putting those "forward" lines in are what will help me connect with others.
I've already been quite surprised at how much new data is available for some of my cousins that I did not have. I've been able to add marriage dates (or at least marriage license dates) for some, where I only had a name of spouse. Some have given me an estimate of the spouse's birth date which I might not have had from the family sources I had acquired over the years at reunions. Of course, I'm attaching records to the Ancestry family trees. I need to go back and add some of my non-Ancestry.com sources to the grandparents' generation. I've done it for my parents. I will slowly add those things into the record. They are in my Rootsmagic database for the most part. It's just going to take time.
In the meantime, I've actually prepared ahnentafels from each of my grandparents so that I can share these with "matches". The ahnentafels have birth, marriage, death dates and locations but no sources. It makes it quick for people to see if they can spot a match. It's not 100% ideal, but it does accomplish the purpose of identifying relationships until my database is back to a place where it will be useful for some of the distant cousin matches.
This task could become overwhelming as I've got thousands of people in my current genealogy database. However, I'm not going to delve as much into some of the collateral lines as I have in my main database where the families are not related. I'm trying to focus mainly on the descendants of my actual ancestors, including spouses where known.
It's a nice way to clean up my database and expand my knowledge of some ancestors or descendants of ancestors that I haven't visited in a long, long time.

Hades rescues her, and in order to safely bring Persephone to the Underworld he marks her as his bride. But Boreas will stop at nothing to get Persephone. Despite her growing feelings for Hades, Persephone wants to return to the living realm. Persephone must find a way to defeat Boreas and reclaim her life.
I don’t read many mythology books and I actually had to ask someone else to explain the myth about Persephone to me so I knew where the book would be about. Nevertheless I did really enjoy the story. It’s a mix between Persephone who is trying to live a normal live at first and then the mythology aspect as she learn who she really is. The story was predictable at times, but it also surprised me. I finished this book in one day, because I just wanted to know what was going to happen next.
I really liked Persephone as a main character, she reacted so believable! When she learned she was a goddess she actually freaked out and didn’t believe it at first. She reacts very believable throughout the whole story and I really liked her as a character. I also loved the romance with Hades and how we got to know all the characters from the Underworld. I do think that the side characters could’ve given some more attention as I had difficulties forming a good impression of their characters. There are also some side characters which are worked out really well, like Cassandra, Thetanos and Hades.
Because I don’t know that much of mythology I had a bit more difficulties getting to know this world than most people who do know a bit about mythology. However this book gives the reader enough explanation to still understand what’s going on even without knowledge about mythology. Some myths are even explained short and I liked how the author dealt with this. I would like to know more about the world because I love world building, but I really liked how the author dealt with the world building. We didn’t get one big information dump, but learn more about the world gradually as Persephone learns more.
To conclude: I really liked this book. The story is interesting and I really liked the characters. The world building is done very well and I am looking forward to seeing what will happen in the next book.

I was lucky enough to be on of the blogger involved in the cover reveal for this book and I instantly wanted to read it. I am a huge fan of Contemporary Romance and I am loving the right in New Adult books so obviously I desperately wanted to read this book. I was so excited when I got an ARC to review for this blog tour. But I am also so ashamed to say I didn't actually start it until yesterday. (Yes I know I'm late, I have University and it's crazy busy). I am not sat kicking myself wondering why the hell I didn't start this sooner. I finished the book in 5.5 hours as I just couldn't put it down. It is amazing and now one of my favourite NA Contemporary books. It's just incredible.
Bliss has a secret. She is 22, about to graduate and still a virgin. After her best friend finds out she is shocked and determined to put it right. Her solution - go out, get drunk and have a one-night-stand. Bliss thinks it should be simple right? But then she freaks and leaves her drop-dead-gorgeous British should-be one-night-stand, Garrett naked in her bed before anything happens. She desperately hopes she never sees him again but life is not that simple. But then Garrett turns out to be her new theatre teacher. Can they both resist their feelings and attraction to each other when everything is forbidden between them? Or will their forbidden relationship only make them want each other even more?
I genuinely loved this book. I didn't really know what to expect as when I finally came around I couldn't really remember the blurb only that is sounded amazing and I couldn't wait to read it. Rather than reading the blurb again I decided to go into the book completely blind not knowing anything about it other than that is was New Adult and Contemporary. I am so glad that I did because I felt like the book was just that much unputdownable because of it. Right from the start Cora's writing style sucked me right in and I couldn't wait to find out what was going to happen. I loved not knowing that Garrett was going to turn out to be her teacher as I was surprised when it happened. I was like *gasp* Oh dear... awkward and if I had re-read the blurb I wouldn't have had that reaction.
Bliss is such an awesome character. I love her. She's a control-freak and over-thinks everything. I can definitely associate with that. Being a psych graduate I totally over-think everything and analyse everything so I absolutely loved seeing that part of Bliss' character. I love that she is a strong character, no matter what happened and how much it upsets her she still moves on and does her best to stay strong. I really love that in book, I can't stand characters who just sit around and wait for guys to come and save them and I adored that this wasn't Bliss at all. However as much as she was strong you really see a vulnerable side to her. I loved everything about her and she is such a fantastic character. Garrett, OMG he is so amazing and I totally love him. I don't think I find the 'British accent' as hot as other would with me being from the UK but he is still crazy hot and I fell head-over-heels in love with him. Right from the start with him sat in that pub reading Shakespeare I was SOLD! He is hot, cute, sweet and just swoon-worthy. I love love love him.
I loved the main characters as you can see but I absolutely adored the secondary characters as well. Cade, Bliss' guy best friend is just incredible and so sweet and I just wanted to jump in the book and hug him. He broke my heart and I was in tears at parts all due to Cade's character. I love him and I desperately want a book about Cade.
One thing I love about this book was that there was no instalove. Instalove I hate... Instalust now that I like and there was lots of instalust there. Right from the first chapter there are tons of sexual attraction and tension and the sexual tension continues right through the book and it's what makes the book to amazing. Even though technically it should be wrong, a teacher and a student should NOT be together you can't help but want them to be together because it is such an amazing love story and you just need them to work it out.
This book was easily a one-sitting read. I couldn't put it down and finished it in a couple of hours. I absolutely adored it and it is easily one of my favourite contemps of all time. It is right up there with Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry and I had the same feeling with both of them. The unputdownable this book is phenomenal feeling. Losing It is one book that is not to be missed. If you like contemporary this book is a must-read. It is filled with pulse-pounding sexual tension and heart-stopping romance. I absolutely loved it and it is one book that I can easily re-read again and again.

It is about a boy and a girl who swap stories and dares in a notebook that they pass to each other in new York, without actually encountering each other.

The story is original and fast paced, I kept wanting to keep on reading. It also is a funny book at times and I really enjoyed reading it. I thought it was a bit strange that at first Dash and Lily never encountered each other, but it was also really nice to see how they got to kow each other through the notebook. I did think it was strange that they enlist the help of many friends and family members, but not one of them ever slips and tells one of them much about the other. It was just a bit unbelieveable.
This book is told from two perspectives, from Dash and Lily's perspective. They are wirtten by different authors and this makes the book even beter, because dash and Lily are so different from each other and even have their own thoughts and voice. We really get to know who Dash and Lily are and I liked them both. Most side characters are used to fill up gaps, but still they felt like real persons and they had their own characteristics.
Sometimes when I wasn't reading I did realize how strange it was that they where able to pass the notebook to each other in a city as big as New York, but when you are reading it most of it sounds very logical and it doens't seem strange at all.
I really enjoyed this story, but it misses something for the 5 stars. I am not sure what, as it is a really enjoyable and nice book and I would certainly recommend it. It just lacks a bit depth at times and even though it's a good book, it isn't the kind of book that stays with you long after you finished it.
I liked the setting of the story as it takes place around Christmas and this is quite important in this book. Like Lily, I love christmas although I do also agree with Dash about many of his ideas about Christmas. I liked how prominently Christmas played a role in this book and I got in the mood for Christmas.
To conclude: overal this is a very enjoyable story, fast paced and a light read with an original plot. I liked reading how different Lily and Dash where written and I really liked them both.

There are no words to explain just how damn excited I am to be a part of the cover reveal for the second installment in the phenomenal Sweet Trilogy by the very awesome Wendy Higgins.
I read the first book Sweet Evil earlier this year and just fell head over heels in love with it. It is one of the most amazing, phenomenal, original books I have read and definitely a favourite of mine. One of the best books I have read this year... and I've read a lot this year. So being in the cover reveal is super exciting and I just want to say a massive thank you to Wendy for letting me be a part of the cover reveal. I *heart* ya.

Wendy Higgins was born in Alaska, grew up an Army brat, and lived all over the United States before settling in the Washington, DC area. Family Tree
Ayres, Katherine. Family Tree. New York: Bantam, Doubleday, Dell, 1996.
Tyler Stoudt has the strictest 6th grade teacher this year. She finds out that most of the year will be spent working on a family tree project that will be tied to just about everything else they study. There's only one problem. Tyler has no one besides her father. Her mother died before she was born. She's never met any of her grandparents. She knows her father's nationality is "Deutsch" and that her mom was "English." Imagine her surprise when she finds that her Dad's family was Amish and shunned him when he married her mom who was from Massachusetts. Tyler works very hard on her family tree and pieces together a lot of information. Of course, Tyler's project brings about some happy outcomes in regards to her family life as well. This is a great book to interest kids in genealogical research. Because I have Amish ancestry as well, I understood the differences in that culture more than some readers might. My one minor quibble with the book is that Tyler's Amish family was from Germany, and although some Amish families were in Germany, most of my Amish ancestors were Swiss. I would have preferred for the author to have made the Amish Swiss with perhaps a brief migration through the French Alsace region to show that "Deutsch" does not necessarily mean German. Still this is a good book to use with about 4th to 7th grade children who show an interest in genealogy or that you would like to gain an appreciation for it.
By the way, it really doesn't go into a lot of methodology but relies more on interviewing relatives. It's really just a book which will perhaps give them enough information to get started. A parent or grandparent who has some experience could easily steer the child in the direction of more and better resources as the child is ready.
